"I honestly think Coldplay are on the same level as The Beatles. In 30 years, when Coldplay are old men, people will look back and say, 'These guys were more talented than The Beatles.'"
Asides from that, I'm definately a bigger fan of The Beatles. Not a knock on Coldplay though, who I think are an awesome band. I just don't think they will considered as timeless and genius in hindsight as The Fab Four do.
Kanye is always running his mouth, he might be good at what he does but let's be honest, all he raps about is himself & how awesome he is. So when it comes down to it he won't be a legend like the Beatles. I don't even think Coldplay has reached legend status, not even on a U2 level (I don't even like U2 but I'll admit they're the stuff of legends). Anyway what I'm trying to say is, people all over the world are sharpening their knives to stab Kanye over this idiotic, indulgent statement. & also The Beatles have longevity + variety. Coldplay hasn't reached the latter yet.
"all he raps about is himself & how awesome he is."
Well, all rappers do that really. It's not so much the rapping so much about himself that concerns me. It's when he's not rapping. I mean, outside the booth, no rapper could ever come close to the ego he shows.
And I think that's exactly what will make him a legend right.
There are so many other rappers with substance that are totally legit. Lupe for instance, Drake pre Lil Wayne/Eminem song lol. But seriously if Kanye is a legend it's for controversy & not much else. He's not Tupac.
Lupe's wordplay and flow is absolutely second to none, but he lacks that producing touch that comes so easy to Yeezy, not to mention Lu can't write a hook to save his life.
Drake is still too young in the game to fully say, but he's a very good prospect. We'll make a ruling on him in about 3-4 years.
But no, Kanye will go down as a legend because he is actually a genius. The controversy and swag is just icing on the cake. Songs like "Jesus Walks", "Diamonds From Sierra Leone", and "Monster" didn't write themselves.
i gotta say i love Coldplay WAY more than the Beatles. WAY
